I have been tagged by Barakah @ rickshaw diaries, regarding the following question:

Where Would Your 8 Homes Be?

List them. You don’t have to list your reasons, but if you do at least for a few of them, it would be more fun. And remember that the only rule is: the homes must be within the borders of the United States of America or else, within the borders of the country you live in, so as to utterly emulate the McCains. When you’re done, tag 8 people, so that they may join in the self-indulgence, forgetting about the crappy property market and the equivalent of The End of Pompeii on Wall-Street. You could spend your time hammering your doors and windows shut in preparation for the apocalypse instead, but it would be much less fun.

1) Firstly, no choice here really, its been on my banner for the best part of a year, and for good reason. When Mrs Moo and I went to Scotland, we hired a boat on Loch Lomond, a little row boat, and rowed for a while around. I took the photo of the little house, and it makes me calm.

It’s probably damp, and they get flooded, and annoyed by little Indian men taking photos from rowboats, but if I am insanely rich like the McCains, I will buy this house and hire Cheney to shoot people in the face who get too near.

2) Mrs Moo wants a house by the beach, so I think somewhere on the Devon coast would be nice.

3) Solihull, so we could continue to see our splendid friends in the Birmingham. With our super-rich lifestyle we will have a helipad or something. Oh, and a giant big mosque attached. Just to annoy the BNP and the Tories, who have been blocking mosque locations in Solihull for a while now. It will have three big green domes and the french flag all over it, just to annoy people. A must have would be a shark out of the roof. Why not? As an insanely rich person I can do what I like, and I am expected to be a wee bit eccentric.

4) A central London penthouse flat. I think we would buy the top two floors of a very tall building – like what Oprah did in Chicago (so Mrs Moo tells me).

5) We would also want a nice family abode in the home counties. Because we are insanely rich, we will be quite right-wing. This house is purely to drop into, to write lettters to the Daily Mail about how terrible it is that Muslims are putting sharks on roofs.

6) I would like a little halal organic farm outside of Leicester, that would make my Mum happy, and we could pop in and feed the little lambs, (possible from helicopter). We would also have a little kebabish on the farm.

7) Our seventh home would be a shack in the middle of the welsh mountains, off the grid. We would use banknotes for fuel, because that is what the insanely rich can do. The zakat on the money would be paid for, so you can stop that righteous indignation now.
And our final, eighth home, would be a small terraced house in one of the northern mill towns, so we can take photo calls in front of it to show how being insanely rich has not spoilt us one bit.

[I tag Chris Allen, and anyone else who wants to be tagged]

I have been nominated twice with the ‘I love your blog’ award meme, which is both flattering and disturbing. There is a disconnect between a person’s personality and a person’s writing. I could be an axe wielding nutcase, using this blog to cover my tracks and throw the authorities off the scent as I stalk the streets of Birmingham chopping up ginger cats and putting them in the recycling bags the council gives out (but obviously turning the bags inside out so the recycling insignia can’t be seen and the bags are treated as regular refuse) and leaving the axe in the bushes of the house three doors down and leaving the carcass-filled bags outside his house.

Rules:

1. The winner can put the logo on their blog
2. Link to the person you received the award from
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs
4. Put links of those blogs on yours
5. Leave a message on the blogs nominated

To continue the meme, I just chose the blogs I read the most. To put it another way, if I had to restrict myself to seven blogs, it would be these seven (in no particular order)

Talkislam.info – the group blog steered by Aziz Poonawala and containing a fantastic array of Muslim bloggers on there – it is the second most exciting thing electronic on the planet (the first most exciting thing electronic obviously being the Large Hadron Collider).

Xkcd.com – this comic blog, updated Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays, just sings to me. It really does. It sings to me in my mind, all sorts of melodious soaring tunes. It twangs my geeky heartstrings in a way only a maths nerd would get.

Bradford Muslim – Atif Imtiaz from Bradford – the most profound activist/commentators blog around. I re-read this time and again, gaining new things.

Sunnisisters – Really, respect again to her writing and her photography. I only got into this about a year or so ago, so I recently used winhttrack to download the entire blog onto my hard drive. After what happened to ‘A Muslim Thinktank’ (it disappeared) I didn’t want to lost another masha’Allah blog

Folio – Timothy Bowes. Sir, many has been the time when I have thought something and you have written it, in a clearer and deeper way than I ever could. Brotherly love to you and all your writing.

The Open Road – Matt Asay talks about content management, Open Source in the enterprise, and generally hating on Microsoft. He may be polemical, but he knows his stuff. Read his recent post on Google Chrome vs. Sharepoint… he is on the money. Seriously, one day I would love to work for his company.

Chris Allen – Chris really exists and I can vouch for his physical reality – something I can’t really do for the others on this list if I think about it. This is my most biased of the selections as Chris also is friend, but he hits the nail on the head many times. Take his recent post on tolerance - spot on sir, spot on. A little too much football for my liking but we can’t all be perfect.

Anyways, my igoogle feedreader also contains Yahya Birt, Barakah@rickshaw diairies, Dervish, Indigo Jo, Spirit21, fugstar and Minaret Muse – blog moo-habbat to them all but I wanted to limit it to seven, and at one in the morning, these are the ones that make sense.

(staggers off, possibly to wash cat blood off his hands in the manner of Lady Macbeth)
