Obama, Twitter, Expectations and Mid-East Policy

Lower your expectations now and increase your output.

I watched the full inauguration live on the BBC.  I even covered in on Twitter.  I stopped after Obamas speech, and was surprised at the full coverage of Obama dancing at Inauguration Balls.*  Watching someone else glammed up and having fun is not really fun to watch (assuming you find Balls fun).

There was an article hidden in the Guardians G2 from Derek Draper:

Finally, here is a quick rundown of what a friend told me about American/UK mideast policy.  This is what is important

• Security of Israel (whatever it take, Aid, Arms, Military bases).
• Oil supplies (its not just the middle east, but it’s there)
• Secure Trade with Mideast – they have cash!

Its a little rough around the edges but it seemed to make sense.  I don’t think the priorities will change but the method and tools used to implement these priorities will change dramatically.
