Muslim Lolcats VII: If you tolerate this, then your children will be next…

We still subscribe to retired RSS feeds, and we listen.  We do need to get over ourselves.  Today I have inserted some comments, because its really really early and I am feeling reckless.

Can this be on that pleasant Hijabs High blog please?  Also, can someone do a brother’s version called ‘Lunghi Lane’?

I haven’t been blogging as much because I have been doing DIY, and nappy changing and sometimes not doing much at all.  Sorry.  I am not profound or hilarious all of the time.  Will try harder.

People still hassle me about what kind of Muslim I am.

I pick my nose when I think no-one is looking, that’s what kind of Muslim I am

Why think when you can construct end-of-days scenarios, thanks to nutters on YouTube.  We have Hadith to back it up.  Hadith!  Beat that? No?  Though not!

    Salamua’alaykum,

Is it the thrill of approaching the taboo that makes this so funny? I guess since sex, death, war, celebrity, and even the mediocrity of regular life have all been made fun of…. it must be faith that’s
    the last battleground for comedy?

I mean whats this about Imam Mahdi (AS), a grandson of the Prophet (S)? Followed up by a comment:

“Why think when you can construct end-of-days scenarios, thanks to nutters on YouTube. We have Hadith to back it up. Hadith! Beat that? No? Though not!”

I mean, do we really keep our beards because of a ‘hadith to back us up’?

    HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

OMG IM SO FUNNY 4 RLZ!

  11. Mr Moo says:

    Salaams Yursil

The comment was aimed at those laypeople who like to take current events and put an ‘end of days’ scenario wrapping around it. I don’t know when or how this trend started, but it is mirrored in other religions too.

If one takes a historical view, there have been crusades, invasions, ransacking of cities and internecine warfare for most of the Muslim history, including Eschatological obsession online has moved from a fundamental tenet to the realms of conspiracy theory, with ‘hadith’ used to silence discussion. It is a shame because most of the people who push this agenda are laypeople and not scholars of the deen.

It is not funny when you have to explain things said in jest. Really. For anyone. I am off to icanhazcheezeburger.com

  12. Yursil says:

    Wassalam,

Yes, I realize that. No one asked you to explain the joke :)

Amazingly, I still think its irreverent.

Shaykhs such as Hamza Yusuf have done the same when it comes to applying current events to end of times hadith. I’m pretty sure every single Sufi Shaykh, and probably quite a few other types of shaykhs, have mentioned exactly how close we are to the end of times.

Shaykhs can do it but laypeople cannot repeat it?

When will it be acceptable to do so?

  13. Omfg This is hilarious..

  14. Sabeur says:

    More please lol

  15. thecrazyjogger says:

    Priceless :D

  16. Susan Hilde says:

Mr. Moo, you are wonderful. I like your keen sense of humor. I am from a rigid uptight Protestant background, getting told hundreds of times that laughter and joy were “offensive to God”. I am thankful that there are some people of faith who don’t believe that humor is “sinful”. Even though I am not Muslim, I really want to say “alhamdililah” (sp?) when I meet people who celebrate life. Please keep on with what you are doing. Salaam.

    LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!

    LOve these! Are there more?

Nice to find another Muslim who appreciates humor! Huzzah!

Sue: If joy is offensive, then Heaven is sinful. Tell the people who would say retarded things THAT. You sound awesome. :D

Go ahead and say it! It’s not restricted to Muslims!
