  1. Salaam Alaikum,

I take it you’ve got the Birmingham Central Mosque’s 2009 calender. Awful, I winch every time I look at it. Such a shame as 2008′s was a thing of beauty.

    As’salamualaykum!
Lol, aw cheeses, every time I see the generic reprint of holiness it ticks me off too.
    Be gone flying Eid messages!

Eid ul Adha Mubarak Moo-Man, salam to family also.

Wicked, but so true. While we’re at it, how about a moratorium on flower backgrounds, too.

One of my aesthetic pet peeves is a home that is only decorated by pictures of Mecca or Medina. They’re beautiful–not to mention the focal points of our spiritual life–but it can get a bit kitschy frankly.

  6. Dazzling Mo says:

You’ve all got it wrong, you can love the kitsch, the plastic flowers, the glittering lights, the gaudy colours and the razzle-dazzle! The tinsel is ironic and retro even, there can be no eid without the razzmatazz my brother! Alhamdulillah, my local mosque is possibly the first in the UK with every single wall bedizened with shimmering tinsel paint, top to bottom. Lovin it!

Very accurate portrayal I must say! Have you received the animated screensavers? That’s kitchsy and in motion!
